Another
rare find while unloading stuff after moving. We were competing
in the "Battle of the Bands" at Louie's Rock City. We
won our first round and should have won our second round.
It's a great story. When I have the time, I'll write it down.
Anyway, this was the one and only version of Mudlark that ever
performed with a female lead vocalist. Karen Kurzeja, who could
sing really well.
<begin
small world pause> Since this flyer is from 1979, would you
really think I could possibly remember how to spell Kurzeja (considering
I never knew in the first place). I know how to spell it because,
for the first time in 27 years, a mere two weeks after writing
this web page, I heard from Karen via email! <end small world
pause>.
Add
Greg Smallwood on slide, Bob Crerie on guitar, Ron Shambaugh on
bass and me on drums, and you have our version of an "audible
orgasm"!
That
would be Tuesday, May 8th, 1979. What a difference nearly 33 years
makes. Now, I'm in bed and asleep by 10:00pm......
Ok,
now to further the greatness of this rock and roll find, behold
actual photos from this very evening:
That's
Karen rocking out in front, with my face just beyond her right
shoulder, and Greg Smallwood's coolness in evidence to the left.
Karen
singin' it and Greg just being the coolest cat on earth.
